About us

JuJitsu is a very old martial art originating in Japan. The word JuJitsu translates to 'the gentle art' and focuses on bending and yielding to opponents to control them, to use their strength and weight against them. It covers striking, grappling, throwing, locking techniques, weapons, multiple attacking and ground fighting. JuJitsu evolved with the Samurai, to complement the warriors swordsmanship in combat. It is the the most effective all-round self defence form available today.

Our three instructors are JuJitsu Blackbelts with almost a centuries combined experience. The instructors are lifelong friends that have learnt and taught JuJitsu together. They are highly passionate and motivated and work as a team to give you the best of their joint knowledge. Instructors have also trained in Karate, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing and Kick-Boxing, Aikido, Judo, Kung-Fu and Capoeira and integrate these into the curriculum.

Street JuJitsu teaches to stand up to bullies but never to be one. Emphasis is on excellent technique first, backed up with physical conditioning, awareness, discipline, confidence and respect - all hallmarks of the Japanese martial arts. We believe your greatest competition is yourself and will help everyone be the best they can be in JuJitsu and in life.

Why we Are Here

StreetJuJitsu is not a business oriented at large student throughput and if you want to build reputation, quick results and easy belts then we are not the club for you. The training is hard and we build a foundation made of rock not sand. Our instructors devote time from their lives and professional careers purely because they love teaching and seeing students develop in character to become humble but highly accomplished and powerful martial artists. The club is small and provides a highly interactive atmosphere and builds very strong often linfelong bonds and friendships between an amazing group of people.
